MO Salah bids emotional farewell to Liverpool fans

Mohamed Salah has revealed that he will bring his long and successful spell with Liverpool FC to an end when the current season concludes, closing the curtain on one of the most productive eras in the club’s modern history.

The 33-year-old forward, who arrived at Anfield from AS Roma in 2017, shared the announcement in a heartfelt video posted on his social media platforms, describing the decision as the beginning of his farewell to the club and its supporters.

Salah acknowledged that leaving Liverpool was not an easy choice, noting that his connection to the club and the city had grown far beyond football during his years on Merseyside. He said Liverpool had become part of his life and identity, adding that the bond with the fans and his teammates made the moment especially emotional.

Although the Egyptian international signed a new two-year contract extension in April 2025, both the player and the club have now agreed that he will move on at the end of the campaign, allowing him to depart as a free agent.

During his nine-year stay, Salah witnessed both triumph and hardship with the club, playing through the difficult period of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the tragic loss of teammate Diogo Jota, events he described as moments that strengthened the unity within the squad.

On the pitch, Salah was central to Liverpool’s resurgence as one of Europe’s elite teams. He helped deliver multiple major honours, including two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Community Shield.

His individual record has been equally remarkable. Salah scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him among the club’s all-time top scorers, while also winning the Premier League Golden Boot four times and being voted the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year on three occasions.

In his farewell message, Salah expressed deep gratitude to Liverpool supporters, saying their backing helped him enjoy the finest years of his career and gave him strength during difficult moments. He added that the memories created at the club would remain with him forever, stressing that Liverpool would always feel like home to him and his family.

Salah concluded by telling fans that although his time at the club is ending, the connection will never fade, echoing the club’s famous anthem by saying he will never walk alone.
