“Nigeria is in a war situation” — Prophet El-Buba reacts to Plateau killings

Following the deadly attack in Plateau State that left at least 27 people dead, Prophet Isa El-Buba has described Nigeria as being in a “war situation,” urging citizens to remain alert and proactive in protecting themselves.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday, March 29, in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos, now referred to as the “Palm Sunday Massacre”, saw gunmen open fire on residents at a popular gathering spot. While 14 victims died on the scene, others succumbed to injuries after being taken to the hospital.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, condemned the incident as “barbaric and unprovoked” and imposed a 48-hour curfew to contain further violence and restore order.

Speaking via a Facebook broadcast on Monday, Prophet El-Buba criticized authorities for failing to act on prior warnings, alleging that threats of the attack had been publicly circulated. He emphasized the need to avoid politicizing the crisis and called on the federal government to take immediate action to safeguard lives.

“We must stop this. The President must act and act fast,” he said, stressing that Nigerians must remain vigilant in the face of ongoing threats.
