Video: Prophet El-Buba warns Nigerian leaders, urges citizens to defend democracy

A video of Nigerian cleric Prophet Isa El-Buba speaking on the worsening security situation in Nigeria is drawing widespread attention online as frustration grows over continued killings and instability in parts of the country.
In the message, the outspoken prophet condemned the wave of violence affecting many communities and called on citizens to become more politically engaged, urging Nigerians not to sell their votes during elections but instead hold leaders accountable for the state of the nation. He also called on the government to identify and prosecute those he described as collaborators and sponsors of terrorism (known to them), insisting that those responsible for the bloodshed must be exposed and brought to justice.
Speaking directly about the country’s leadership, he urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action to address insecurity across the country, warning that if the situation continues, younger leaders should be given the opportunity to take control of the affairs of the nation.
The cleric also challenged religious leaders across the country to speak out without fear or compromise, stressing that silence in the face of violence only worsens the crisis. He further insisted that Nigeria is not an Islamic state and should not be run as a one-party system, emphasizing the need to protect democracy, justice, and national unity.
Nigeria has faced persistent security challenges in recent years, including attacks by armed groups, banditry, kidnappings, and communal violence, particularly in the northern and central regions. The video has since sparked debate among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, with many sharing strong opinions about the future of the country.
